Puja Vidhi — 8 Steps
- Clean the shop or office; hang a toran of mango leaves at the entrance and draw a swastika.
- Place the Ganesha idol on a clean seat in the north-east or east, never facing west or south.
- Take water, akshata and durva in hand, make the sankalp for business growth and do achaman.
- Bathe the idol, then offer red or yellow cloth, sindoor, sandal paste and 21 blades of durva.
- Offer modak or laddu, fruit and betel as naivedya; light a ghee lamp and incense.
- Write "Shri" and "Shubh-Labh" in kumkum on the new ledger, register or cash box, and place it at Ganesha's feet for blessing.
- Chant "Om Gam Ganapataye Namah" 108 times and recite the Vakratunda shloka.
- Perform the Ganesha aarti, share prasad with staff and customers, and set aside part of the first sale as charity.
