Which god should be worshipped on which weekday?
In Hindu tradition each weekday is dedicated to a deity and its ruling planet (graha): Monday — Lord Shiva (Moon); Tuesday — Hanuman Ji (Mars); Wednesday — Lord Ganesha (Mercury); Thursday — Lord Vishnu / Brihaspati (Jupiter); Friday — Maa Durga & Maa Lakshmi (Venus); Saturday — Shani Dev, with Hanuman Ji (Saturn); Sunday — Surya Dev (Sun).
Why is each weekday linked to a planet (graha)?
The seven weekdays correspond to the seven classical grahas of Vedic astrology — Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn. Worshipping the presiding deity of a day is a traditional way to honour that planet and seek harmony with its influence in one's life and birth chart.
Can I observe more than one weekday vrat?
Yes. Many devotees keep a weekday vrat suited to their need or to a planet they wish to strengthen — for example Monday for Shiva, Tuesday for Hanuman, or Saturday for Shani. Choose one you can observe sincerely and consistently; devotion and regularity matter more than the number of fasts.
