What is Ghati–Pala?
In traditional Vedic timekeeping one full day-night = 60 ghati (1 ghati = 24 minutes), and each ghati has 60 pala (1 pala = 24 seconds). Counting begins at sunrise — so this clock shows ghati-pala from the actual sunrise at your chosen location.
What is Hora?
A hora is a planetary hour: the day (sunrise→sunset) and night (sunset→next sunrise) are each divided into 12 horas. The first hora of the day belongs to the weekday’s lord — Sun on Sunday, Moon on Monday, and so on. Horas of the Moon, Mercury, Jupiter and Venus are traditionally favoured for auspicious work.
