Numerology runs on the calendar date alone — no birth time or place needed.

How Mulank Differs from Bhagyank

Mulank — nature

The digit sum of the birth DAY alone (29 → 2+9 → 11 → 1+1 → 2). It describes day-to-day temperament, tastes and behaviour — the number you live every day.

Bhagyank — life direction

The digit sum of the FULL date (14-03-1992 → 1+4+0+3+1+9+9+2 = 29 → 2). It marks the long arc — the karmic direction life keeps returning to.

Method — Classical Vedic Numerology

Every number is fully reduced to 1–9 — no 11/22 "master numbers" are kept, because classical Vedic numerology maps each number to one of the nine grahas, and there is no tenth graha to carry one. The name number uses the Chaldean letter values (1–8); in the Chaldean tradition no letter maps to 9, which is held apart as the number of completion.

Understand This Simply

Vedic numerology reads the numbers hidden in your birth date and name — each number is linked to one of the nine grahas (planets) and describes a flavour of personality and life direction.

Everyday analogy: Numbers are like the base notes of a song — they set a mood, but you write the melody with your choices.

What to do with this: Read your two numbers and notice what rings true. Use the graha connection devotionally if you wish (the suggested mantra), and remember: numerology is a mirror for reflection, not a substitute for a full kundali.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Mulank (root number)?

The Mulank is the digit sum of your birth DAY reduced to 1–9 (born on the 29th → 2+9 = 11 → 2). It describes day-to-day nature and temperament, and is ruled by one of the nine grahas.

What is the Bhagyank and how is it different from the Mulank?

The Bhagyank (destiny number) is the digit sum of your FULL date of birth (14-03-1992 → 1+4+0+3+1+9+9+2 = 29 → 2). The Mulank shows daily temperament; the Bhagyank shows the longer life direction.

Which graha rules my number?

The classical mapping is: 1 Surya, 2 Chandra, 3 Guru (Brihaspati), 4 Rahu, 5 Budh, 6 Shukra, 7 Ketu, 8 Shani and 9 Mangal. The calculator shows the ruling graha for each of your numbers.

Why are there no master numbers 11 and 22?

Master numbers belong to Western Pythagorean numerology. Classical Vedic numerology reduces every number fully to 1–9, because each number is mapped to one of the nine grahas — and there is no tenth graha to carry an 11 or 22.

How is the name number calculated?

Each Latin letter takes its Chaldean value 1–8 (A=1, F=8, O=7, Y=1; no letter maps to 9), the values are added, and the total is reduced to 1–9. Spaces and punctuation are ignored, so type the name in English letters.

Is numerology a substitute for a Janam Kundali?

No. Numerology reads only the date and name, while a kundali reads the actual sky at your birth — lagna, planetary positions and dashas. Use these numbers as broad guidance and consult a qualified Jyotishi for decisions.
