What makes Ashadha Sankashti Chaturthi distinct from other months?
Ashadha falls at the onset of the monsoon season. Devotees pray for protection from seasonal illnesses — waterborne diseases, fevers, and digestive ailments — in addition to the usual Ganesha vrat for obstacle removal. The Sankashti puja is observed with the same vidhi as all monthly Chaturthi fasts.

What is the puja procedure on Ashadha Sankashti Chaturthi?
Bathe at sunrise, install the Ganesha idol facing north or east, light a ghee diya, offer durva, red flowers, and modak. Chant 'Om Gam Ganapataye Namah' 108 times. In the evening recite the Sankashti vrat katha, then offer arghya to the moon at chandrodaya.

सूर्योदय पर स्नान करें, गणेश मूर्ति उत्तर या पूर्व मुख स्थापित करें, घी का दीप जलाएँ, दूर्वा, लाल पुष्प और मोदक अर्पित करें। 'ॐ गं गणपतये नमः' का 108 बार जप करें। संध्या को व्रत कथा पढ़ें, फिर चन्द्रोदय पर अर्घ्य दें।
Is it auspicious to begin a new business venture after Ashadha Sankashti?
Completing the Sankashti vrat and receiving Ganesha's blessings is traditionally considered excellent before any new undertaking. However, Ashadha also marks Chaturmas (the four-month Vishnu rest period), during which major new ventures are generally avoided in many traditions.

Can the fast be broken if clouds block the moon during the monsoon?
Monsoon clouds often obscure the moon. If the moon cannot be sighted due to clouds, the tradition permits breaking the fast at the approximate chandrodaya time after completing the puja and reciting the Sankashti katha, trusting the moon has risen even if unseen.
