What is Rudra Abhishek and how is it done on Ashadha Masik Shivratri?
Rudra Abhishek is the ritual bathing of the Shivalinga while reciting the Shri Rudram or Rudrashtadhyayi hymns. Water, milk, and Panchamrit are poured with each mantra. On this day it is especially potent as the rains of Ashadha symbolically join the sacred offering.

Can temple visits replace home puja for Ashadha Masik Shivratri?
Both are valid. Visiting a Shiva temple — especially a Jyotirlinga shrine — for darshan and Abhishek is considered especially meritorious. Home puja with a Shivalinga, Bilva leaves, and night vigil is equally accepted when temple visit is not possible.
