Meaning (English)
Hearing Mandodari's words, that vain fool (सठ — Tulsidas's own word) Ravana, notorious throughout the world for his arrogance, laughed and said: 'It is indeed true that fear is woman's nature. Even amid auspiciousness to feel afraid — what a fragile mind.'
Meaning (Hindi) · भावार्थ
कान से मंदोदरी की वह बात सुनकर, तुलसीदास जी जिसे 'सठ' (मूढ़/मूर्ख) कहते हैं — वह जगत में विख्यात अभिमानी रावण हँस पड़ा और बोला — नारी का स्वभाव भयभीत रहना ही है, यह सत्य है। मंगल में भी भय? मन बड़ा कच्चा है।
