जासु दूत बल बरनि न जाई। तेहि आएँ पुर कवन भलाई॥ दूतन्हि सन सुनि पुरजन बानी। मंदोदरी अधिक अकुलानी॥२॥

jāsu dūta bala barani na jāī| tehi āe~ pura kavana bhalāī|| dūtanhi sana suni purajana bānī| maṃdodarī adhika akulānī||2||

Meaning (English)

If the might of his mere messenger is beyond description, what good can come to the city when Shree Rama himself arrives? Hearing the citizens' words from the messengers, Mandodari became even more deeply distressed.

जिनके दूत का बल वर्णन नहीं किया जा सकता, उनके स्वयं आने पर नगर का क्या भला होगा? दूतों से नगरवासियों की यह बात सुनकर मंदोदरी और भी अधिक व्याकुल हो गई।
