About Sri Kanakadasa
Sri Kanakadasa (1509–1609) was born in Bada village, Karnataka. As a disciple of Vyasatirtha, he became a key saint of the Haridasa tradition and a social reformer who spoke against caste discrimination. When he was denied entry to the sanctum of Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt, the rear wall is said to have cracked open so Krishna could show himself — origin of the famous "Kanakana Kindi" window.
