सत्त्वं रजस्तम इति गुणाः प्रकृतिसम्भवाः।
निबध्नन्ति महाबाहो देहे देहिनमव्ययम्।।14.5।।

sattvaṃ rajastama iti guṇāḥ prakṛtisambhavāḥ|
nibadhnanti mahābāho dehe dehinamavyayam||14.5||

Meaning (English)

The three modes of material nature — Sattva (goodness), Rajas (passion), and Tamas (ignorance) — born of Prakriti, bind the imperishable soul to the body.
