Legend & History
According to tradition, the Pandavas rested at this sacred spot during their forest exile (Vanavas) and placed their trishul here as an offering to Lord Shiva. The name 'Sudh' means 'pure' in the local Dogri dialect, and the temple is believed to bestow spiritual purity upon devotees who bathe in the adjacent sacred stream. Shiva is worshipped here in his eternal, omnipresent form — hence the name Sudh (Pure) Mahadev.
