Sunday Vrat Rules — Why Avoid Salt?

Last updated: 14 June 2026

Salt is forbidden in Sunday Vrat because salt absorbs the Sun's "tejas" energy. Sunrise to sunset schedule, allowed foods and 7 benefits.

Why No Salt in Sunday Vrat?

According to Shastras, salt (Lavan) is a heavy, Tamas-dominant substance that neutralises the Sun's Sattvic and Tejas energy. Sunday is the day of Surya Dev — by abandoning salt, the body can directly absorb solar energy. Scientifically, a salt-free fast also improves fluid balance and promotes deep digestive purification.
