6-Step Sindoor Chola Vidhi

Prepare Sindoor + Ghee Paste

Mix fresh sindoor with pure ghee in a small bowl to form a paste.

Apply from Feet Upwards

Start at Hanuman's feet and slowly apply the sindoor-ghee paste upward. This is the "Chola."

Offer Janeu

Offer a new janeu (sacred thread) — this honours Hanuman's brahmachari form.

Flower Garland

Jasmine or marigold garland. White flowers are especially auspicious.

Mustard Oil Lamp

Mustard oil lamp — Shani's favourite. Place facing west. Chant "Om Sham Shanaischaraya Namah" 7 times.

Hanuman Chalisa + Aarti

Recite Hanuman Chalisa once + "Aarti Kije Hanuman Lala Ki." Now go to the Shani temple for Step 2.

Why Sindoor Is Offered to Hanuman — Significance

The sindoor-ghee offering is treated as more than adornment — it is a visible symbol of complete surrender and selfless bhakti toward Hanuman ji.
After the chola, many households also offer a simple prasad of jaggery and roasted chana (gur-chana) — a modest offering traditionally considered dear to Hanuman ji.

शनिवार हनुमान पूजा क्यों?

जब हनुमान जी ने रावण की कैद से शनि देव को मुक्त कराया, तब शनि देव ने वरदान दिया कि "जो मेरे दिन (शनिवार) हनुमान की पूजा करेगा, मैं उसे कभी पीड़ित नहीं करूँगा।"

सिंदूर चोला क्यों?

सीता माता को देखकर हनुमान जी ने पूछा था — "सिंदूर लगाने से राम की आयु बढ़ती है?" सुनकर उन्होंने पूरे शरीर पर सिंदूर लगा लिया। यही चोला परंपरा का मूल है।

6-चरण सिंदूर चोला विधि

सिंदूर + घी पेस्ट तैयार करें

ताज़ा सिंदूर + शुद्ध घी — मिलाकर एक पेस्ट बनाएं। इसे एक छोटी कटोरी में रखें।

चरणों से आरोही क्रम में लगाएं

हनुमान जी की मूर्ति के चरणों से शुरू करके ऊपर तक सिंदूर-घी पेस्ट धीरे-धीरे लगाएं। यही "चोला" है।

जनेऊ अर्पण

नई जनेऊ (यज्ञोपवीत) चढ़ाएं — यह हनुमान जी के ब्रह्मचारी स्वरूप का सम्मान है।

पुष्प माला

चमेली के फूलों की माला या गेंदे की माला। सफेद फूल विशेष रूप से मंगलदायक।

सरसों तेल दीपक

सरसों तेल का दीपक — शनि का प्रिय। पश्चिम दिशा में रखें। "ॐ शं शनैश्चराय नमः" 7 बार।

हनुमान चालीसा + आरती

हनुमान चालीसा 1 बार + "आरती कीजे हनुमान लला की"। अब Step 2 के लिए शनि मंदिर जाएं।
