Ganga Maiya Ki Aarti Bhojpuri

Jai Ganga Maiya, jai jai Maiya, / Banaras ghaat par diya jalaain ho. — Victory to you, Mother Ganga, victory again and again; on the ghats of Banaras (Kashi) we light a lamp for you. Patna ke ghaat par aarti utaarin, / Ganga ke charanan mein sheesh navaain ho. — On the ghats of Patna we perform your aarti, and at the feet of Mother Ganga we bow our heads in reverence. Paawan jal baate tohaar Maiya, / Paap dhove sabke dukh mitaain ho. — Mother, your water is utterly sacred; it washes away everyone's sins and removes everyone's sorrows. Bhojpur ke beta-beti milke, / Ganga Maiya ke gun gaain ho. — The sons and daughters of Bhojpur (the Bhojpuri land) all come together to sing the praises of Mother Ganga. Har har Gange bolin milke, / Ghaat ghaat par deep jaraayin ho. — Together they raise the chant "Har Har Gange" and light lamps at every ghat. Poorab desh ke log sab aavelen, / Maiya ke dar par maath tekaain ho. — People from the eastern land all come here and bow their foreheads at the Mother's threshold. Ganga Maiya tu dayaalu baadu, / Sankat mein hamke bachaain ho. — Mother Ganga, you are deeply merciful; in times of danger you protect us. Tohaar mahima apaar baate, / Nit nit jaikara lagaain ho. — Your glory is boundless; and so, day after day, we raise your praise and victory-cry.
