Legend & History
A devout woman named Kusuma worshipped a Shiva linga daily. Her sister, jealous of her son, killed him and threw the body in a lake. When Kusuma performed her ritual, Shiva appeared with her son alive. Pleased with her devotion, Shiva manifested as Grishneshwar.
