Saturday Peepal Choumukhi Deepam Vidhi
Four-directional lamps after sunset — ancestral peace and Shani blessings
Why Saturday & the Peepal?
- 🌳 It is believed that on Saturdays Lakshmi-Narayan reside in the Peepal; offering water and a lamp this day pacifies Shani dosha and removes poverty.
- 📖 In the Bhagavad Gita (10.26) Krishna says "aśvatthaḥ sarva-vṛkṣāṇām" — "among trees I am the Peepal."
- 🔱 The Peepal is held to embody the Trimurti — Brahma at the roots, Vishnu in the trunk, Shiva at the crown.
- 🌇 The hour after sunset is regarded as Shani’s, so the lamp is lit at dusk.
