Questions and Answers
Who is Maa Bagalamukhi?
Maa Bagalamukhi is one of the ten Mahavidyas and is revered as a fierce form of the Divine Mother. In tradition she is called the "deity of stambhan" — one who stills and steadies negative forces and opposition. Her worship is approached with devotion, restraint and purity.
For what purpose are the Bagalamukhi mantras traditionally chanted?
In tradition the Bagalamukhi mantras are chanted with reverence for patience, inner strength and a spirit of victory during times of difficulty, opposition, litigation and obstacles. This is a faith-based sadhana — it does not guarantee winning any lawsuit or dispute; for legal matters proper legal counsel should always be sought.
Should Bagalamukhi sadhana be done under a guru's guidance?
Yes. Bagalamukhi is an intense Mahavidya, so deep sadhana, seed-mantra purascharana or rigorous rituals are traditionally undertaken only under the guidance of a qualified guru. Ordinary devotees may remember her name and recite simple verses with devotion.
What is the auspicious day and count for chanting Bagalamukhi mantras?
In tradition Tuesday and the day of Bagalamukhi Jayanti are considered auspicious for worship, and the mool mantra is commonly chanted 108 times on a turmeric (haldi) mala. What matters most is purity, concentration and devotion — sincerity counts more than the count.
