Kishkindha Kand Verse 26
कतहुँ होइ निसिचर सैं भेटा। प्रान लेहिं एक एक चपेटा ॥ बहु प्रकार गिरि कानन हेरहिं। कोउ मुनि मिलत ताहि सब घेरहिं ॥ लागि तृषा अतिसय अकुलाने। मिलइ न जल घन गहन भुलाने ॥ मन हनुमान कीन्ह अनुमाना। मरन चहत सब बिनु जल पाना ॥ चढ़ि गिरि सिखर चहूँ दिसि देखा। भूमि बिबिर एक कौतुक पेखा ॥ चक्रबाक बक हंस उड़ाहीं। बहुतक खग प्रबिसहिं तेहि माहीं ॥ गिरि ते उतरि पवनसुत आवा। सब कहुँ लै सोइ बिबर देखावा ॥ आगें कै हनुमंतहि लीन्हा। पैठे बिबर बिलंबु न कीन्हा ॥ दो. दीख जाइ उपवन बर सर बिगसित बहु कंज। मंदिर एक रुचिर तहँ बैठि नारि तप पुंज ॥ २४ ॥

Wherever they encountered a demon, they killed him with a single blow; they searched mountains and forests in many ways. If they came upon a sage anywhere, all would gather around him. Extreme thirst came upon them and they grew desperate, but wandering through dense jungle they could find no water. Hanuman reflected in his mind that without water they were all on the verge of death. He climbed a mountain peak and looked in all four directions; then he spotted a strange cave-opening in the earth. Chakvak birds, herons, and swans were flying out of it, and many other birds were flying in. Pavan-putra descended the mountain and led everyone to that cave; Hanuman went ahead, and without delay all entered the cave. Inside they saw a beautiful garden and a lake brimming with blooming lotuses; there was a lovely dwelling place, and in it sat a woman who was the very embodiment of penance and austerity.
कहीं कोई राक्षस मिलता तो उसे एक ही थप्पड़ में प्राण-हीन कर देते; बहुत प्रकार से पर्वतों और वनों की तलाशी लेते रहे। कहीं कोई मुनि मिलते तो सब उन्हें घेर लेते। अत्यधिक प्यास लगी और वे व्याकुल हो उठे, किंतु घने जंगल में भटकने से जल न मिला। हनुमान ने मन में विचार किया कि बिना जल के सब मरने की कगार पर हैं। वे पर्वत-शिखर पर चढ़कर चारों दिशाओं में देखने लगे; तभी उन्हें भूमि में एक विचित्र बिल दिखा। उस बिल से चक्रवाक, बगुले और हंस उड़कर बाहर आ रहे थे और बहुत से पक्षी भीतर भी जा रहे थे। पवनसुत पर्वत से उतरे और सबको उस बिल के पास ले आए; हनुमान सबको लेकर आगे हुए और बिना देर किए सब बिल में प्रवेश कर गए। भीतर जाकर उन्होंने एक सुंदर उपवन और खिले हुए कमलों से भरा सरोवर देखा; वहाँ एक रमणीय भवन था और उसमें एक तपस्या की मूर्ति-सी स्त्री बैठी थी।
