आपूर्यमाणमचलप्रतिष्ठं
समुद्रमापः प्रविशन्ति यद्वत्।
तद्वत्कामा यं प्रविशन्ति सर्वे
स शान्तिमाप्नोति न कामकामी।।2.70।।
Roman (IAST)
āpūryamāṇamacalapratiṣṭhaṃ
samudramāpaḥ praviśanti yadvat|
tadvatkāmā yaṃ praviśanti sarve
sa śāntimāpnoti na kāmakāmī||2.70||
Simple transliteration
apuryamanamacalapratishtham
samudramapah pravishanti yadvat
tadvatkama yam pravishanti sarve
sa shantimapnoti na kamakami2.70
Meaning
Meaning (English)

As the ocean remains undisturbed by the incessant flow of waters from rivers merging into it, so the sage who is unmoved despite the flow of desires attains peace — not the person who strives to satisfy desires.

Meaning (Hindi) · अर्थ

जैसे सभी नदियाँ अचल प्रतिष्ठित परिपूर्ण समुद्र में समा जाती हैं, वैसे ही जिस पुरुष में सभी कामनाएँ विलीन हो जाती हैं, वही शान्ति प्राप्त करता है — कामनाओं की चाह रखने वाला नहीं।
