Ambaji Temple

Significance

Ambaji Temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peeths where the heart of Goddess Sati fell. The temple has no idol; instead, a 'Visa Yantra' (a sacred geometric design) inscribed on a marble stone is worshipped. The temple is located in the Aravalli hills and is a major pilgrimage center in Gujarat, especially during Navratri when lakhs of devotees visit.

Legend & History

The temple is mentioned in various ancient texts including the Shri Ambika Stavanam. The original temple is believed to be about 2000 years old. The Gabbar Hill, located near the temple, is considered the original Shakti Peeth where the heart fell. Pilgrims often climb the hill after visiting the main temple. The temple trust manages various charitable activities including free meals for pilgrims.

इस मंदिर का उल्लेख श्री अम्बिका स्तवनम सहित विभिन्न प्राचीन ग्रंथों में है। मूल मंदिर लगभग 2000 साल पुराना माना जाता है। मंदिर के पास स्थित गब्बर पहाड़ी को मूल शक्तिपीठ माना जाता है जहां हृदय गिरा था। तीर्थयात्री अक्सर मुख्य मंदिर के दर्शन के बाद पहाड़ी पर चढ़ते हैं। मंदिर ट्रस्ट तीर्थयात्रियों के लिए मुफ्त भोजन सहित विभिन्न धर्मार्थ गतिविधियों का प्रबंधन करता है।
