Bhimashankar

Significance

Located in the Sahyadri range, source of the Bhima river. The temple is in a dense forest area known for its biodiversity and is part of the Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary.

सह्याद्रि श्रृंखला में स्थित, भीमा नदी का उद्गम। मंदिर एक घने वन क्षेत्र में है जो अपनी जैव विविधता के लिए जाना जाता है और भीमाशंकर वन्यजीव अभयारण्य का हिस्सा है।

Legend & History

The demon Bhima, son of Kumbhakarna, troubled the gods and devotees. Lord Shiva appeared and defeated him in battle. After the victory, Shiva stayed there as Bhimashankar. The sweat from Shiva's body formed the Bhima river.

कुंभकर्ण के पुत्र राक्षस भीम ने देवताओं और भक्तों को परेशान किया। भगवान शिव प्रकट हुए और युद्ध में उसे पराजित किया। विजय के बाद, शिव भीमाशंकर के रूप में वहां रहे। शिव के शरीर से पसीना बहकर भीमा नदी बनी।
