Significance

Nashik hosts the Kumbh Mela on the banks of the Godavari, and the Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga is the spiritual center of the event. The Godavari is called the Dakshin Ganga (Ganga of the South). The temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and is revered for its sacred waters and rituals during Kumbh.

नासिक में गोदावरी के तट पर कुंभ मेला आयोजित होता है और त्र्यंबकेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग इस आयोजन का आध्यात्मिक केंद्र है। गोदावरी को दक्षिण गंगा कहा जाता है। यह मंदिर भगवान शिव के बारह ज्योतिर्लिंगों में से एक है और कुंभ के दौरान विशेष पूजा और अनुष्ठानों के लिए प्रसिद्ध है।

Legend & History

According to legend, during a severe drought Sage Gautama performed penance and brought the Ganga to Nashik, giving birth to the Godavari. The Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga is said to represent the Trinity (Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva) in one linga. The Kumbh Mela here is called Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh due to its dual centers.

कथाओं के अनुसार, गंभीर सूखे के समय ऋषि गौतम ने तपस्या कर गंगा को नासिक लाया, जिससे गोदावरी का उद्गम हुआ। त्र्यंबकेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग को त्रिदेव (ब्रह्मा, विष्णु, शिव) का प्रतीक माना जाता है। यहां का कुंभ नासिक-त्र्यंबकेश्वर कुंभ कहा जाता है।
