Grishneshwar (Ghrushneshwar)

Significance

Last of the twelve Jyotirlingas. Located near the famous Ellora Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also called Ghushmeshwar.

बारह ज्योतिर्लिंगों में अंतिम। प्रसिद्ध एलोरा गुफाओं के पास स्थित, जो यूनेस्को विश्व धरोहर स्थल है। घुश्मेश्वर भी कहा जाता है।

Legend & History

A devout woman named Kusuma worshipped a Shiva linga daily. Her sister, jealous of her son, killed him and threw the body in a lake. When Kusuma performed her ritual, Shiva appeared with her son alive. Pleased with her devotion, Shiva manifested as Grishneshwar.

कुसुमा नामक एक धर्मपरायण महिला प्रतिदिन शिव लिंग की पूजा करती थी। उसकी बहन, उसके बेटे से ईर्ष्या करते हुए, उसे मार दिया और शरीर को एक झील में फेंक दिया। जब कुसुमा ने अपना अनुष्ठान किया, तो शिव उसके बेटे के साथ जीवित प्रकट हुए। उसकी भक्ति से प्रसन्न होकर, शिव घृष्णेश्वर के रूप में प्रकट हुए।
