Somnath

Significance

First among the twelve Jyotirlingas, temple of the Moon God. Known as the 'Eternal Shrine' that has been destroyed and rebuilt multiple times throughout history.

बारह ज्योतिर्लिंगों में प्रथम, चन्द्रदेव का मंदिर। 'अमर मंदिर' के रूप में जाना जाता है जिसे इतिहास में कई बार नष्ट और पुनर्निर्मित किया गया।

Legend & History

Legend says Moon God (Chandra) built the original temple in gold, followed by Ravana in silver, Krishna in wood, and King Bhimdev in stone. The temple stands at the shore where the holy rivers Kapila, Hiran, and Saraswati meet the Arabian Sea.

किंवदंती के अनुसार चंद्रदेव ने मूल मंदिर सोने में बनाया, इसके बाद रावण ने चांदी में, कृष्ण ने लकड़ी में, और राजा भीमदेव ने पत्थर में बनाया। मंदिर उस तट पर स्थित है जहां पवित्र नदियां कपिला, हिरण और सरस्वती अरब सागर से मिलती हैं।
