🙏 The Sacred Idol

The unique idol of Lord Hanuman is positioned under a natural water stream that continuously flows over it. Hanuman is depicted in a reclining posture, and devotees believe the water stream cools the deity who was burning after setting fire to Lanka. The idol is naturally installed on the mountainside.

भगवान हनुमान की अनोखी मूर्ति एक प्राकृतिक जल धारा के नीचे स्थित है जो लगातार उस पर बहती है। हनुमान को लेटी हुई मुद्रा में दर्शाया गया है, और भक्तों का मानना है कि जल धारा उस देवता को ठंडा करती है जो लंका में आग लगाने के बाद जल रहे थे। मूर्ति पहाड़ की ढलान पर प्राकृतिक रूप से स्थापित है।

Significance

Hanuman Dhara is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites in Chitrakoot, where Lord Rama spent 11 years of his exile. The temple is reached by climbing approximately 360 steep steps carved into the mountain. The continuous natural spring water flowing over the Hanuman idol is believed to have healing properties and is considered highly sacred. According to legend, this water stream was created by Lord Rama to cool Hanuman after his tail was set on fire in Lanka. The panoramic views of Chitrakoot from the temple are breathtaking. The temple complex also includes smaller shrines dedicated to other deities.

हनुमान धारा चित्रकूट के सबसे पवित्र तीर्थ स्थलों में से एक है, जहां भगवान राम ने अपने वनवास के 11 वर्ष बिताए थे। मंदिर तक पहाड़ में उकेरी गई लगभग 360 खड़ी सीढ़ियां चढ़कर पहुंचा जाता है। हनुमान की मूर्ति पर बहने वाले निरंतर प्राकृतिक झरने के पानी में उपचार गुण माने जाते हैं और इसे अत्यधिक पवित्र माना जाता है। कथा के अनुसार, यह जल धारा भगवान राम द्वारा लंका में हनुमान की पूंछ में आग लगने के बाद उन्हें ठंडा करने के लिए बनाई गई थी। मंदिर से चित्रकूट के मनोरम दृश्य लुभावने हैं। मंदिर परिसर में अन्य देवताओं को समर्पित छोटे मंदिर भी शामिल हैं।

Legend & History

According to the Ramayana, when Hanuman set fire to Lanka with his burning tail, the intense heat remained in his body. Upon returning to Lord Rama, Hanuman was still experiencing the burning sensation. Seeing his devotee's discomfort, Lord Rama shot an arrow into the mountain, creating a natural spring. The cool water began flowing over Hanuman, providing him relief. Since then, this sacred stream has been flowing continuously. Chitrakoot itself is a highly revered place where Lord Rama, Sita, and Lakshmana lived during their exile, making it one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Hindu tradition. The Kamadgiri hill is believed to be the original Chitrakoot where Lord Rama resided.

रामायण के अनुसार, जब हनुमान ने अपनी जलती हुई पूंछ से लंका में आग लगाई, तो तीव्र गर्मी उनके शरीर में बनी रही। भगवान राम के पास लौटने पर, हनुमान अभी भी जलन का अनुभव कर रहे थे। अपने भक्त की तकलीफ देखकर, भगवान राम ने पहाड़ में एक तीर चलाया, जिससे एक प्राकृतिक झरना बन गया। ठंडा पानी हनुमान पर बहने लगा, जिससे उन्हें राहत मिली। तब से यह पवित्र धारा निरंतर बह रही है। चित्रकूट स्वयं एक अत्यधिक पूजनीय स्थान है जहां भगवान राम, सीता और लक्ष्मण अपने वनवास के दौरान रहे थे, जो इसे हिंदू परंपरा में सबसे महत्वपूर्ण तीर्थ स्थलों में से एक बनाता है। कामदगिरि पहाड़ी को वह मूल चित्रकूट माना जाता है जहां भगवान राम निवास करते थे।
