Apara Ekadashi 2026: 26 May (Jyeshtha Krishna Paksha Ekadashi). Parana (breaking fast) on 27 May between sunrise and 09:30 AM. According to Brahma Vaivarta Purana (as narrated by Krishna to Yudhishthira), the merit of Apara Ekadashi exceeds: the gift of 1,000 cows, the merit of Kashi-Gaya-Prayag pilgrimage, and the effect of a hundred Ashwamedha yagnas. Ritual sequence for Assam: (1) Dashami (10th day, 25 May) evening: Eat only once, avoid non-veg, onion, garlic. (2) Ekadashi sunrise (26 May): Bath at Brahmaputra ghat or home. Offer Panchamrita to a Tulasi plant and Lord Vishnu's photo/idol. (3) Fast: Either complete fast (Nirjala) or single meal of fruit/milk only. Avoid rice on Ekadashi. (4) All-day Vishnu Naam-Kirtan: Chant 'Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya' 108 times. Read the Apara Ekadashi Katha from Bhavishya Purana.
