About this festival
Vaishakha Purnima (May 12, 2026) is one of the holiest snan-daan (bathing and charity) days in the Hindu calendar. Sacred bathing in holy rivers and generous charity on this day are believed to grant the merit of performing 100 yagnas. This day also marks Kurma Jayanti — the appearance of Lord Vishnu's Kurma (tortoise) avatar. In Vaishnava tradition, Vishnu's ninth avatar form is also remembered on this Purnima.
