Vaikasi Visakam 2026 falls during the Visakha nakshatra in the Tamil month of Vaikasi (verify exact date with Tamil panchangam). Lord Murugan (also called Kartikeya, Skanda, Shanmukha — the six-faced one) is the son of Lord Shiva and Parvati, and the divine commander of the heavenly army. Vaikasi Visakam marks the day he received his sacred Vel (spear) from Goddess Parvati and vanquished the demon Surapadman.
