Puja Vidhi — 7 Steps
Morning Bath
Bathe before sunrise. Wear yellow or red clothes.
Vrat Sankalpa
"I observe Varalakshmi Vrat for wealth, fortune and children." Take sankalpa facing east.
Kalash Sthapana
Fill kalash with water. Add mango leaves. Place coconut on top. Wrap gold thread around it.
Shodashopachara
Worship Maa Lakshmi with 16 offerings. Say "Om Varalakshmyai Namah" for each offering.
Varalakshmi Mantra
"Om Shrim Hrim Varalakshmyai Namah" — 108 times. Then recite Sri Suktam.
Golden Thread
After puja, tie the golden thread (mani-dora) on your wrist. This is the most important step of the vrat.
Bhog and Aarti
Offer kheer, peda and fruit. Perform Mahalakshmi Aarti. Distribute prasad.
Decoration Ideas
Kalash Shringar
Dress the coconut with a saree or blouse — it is considered a form of Maa Lakshmi.
Rangoli
Draw rangoli of lotus, footprints and Lakshmi Yantra at the entrance.
Floral Canopy
Decorate the puja altar canopy with marigold and rose flowers.
Deepamalika
Place 16 ghee lamps around the altar.
