🪔 Chhaya Daan — Shani Dev's Most Beloved Offering
See your reflection in mustard oil and offer it to Shani — you will be amazed to learn why this is so powerful.
🌑 The Mystery of Chhaya Daan
Shani Dev's mother's name is 'Chhaya' — she was the shadow-wife of Surya. Shani was born from Chhaya herself. So when you see your reflection in oil and donate it, Shani is reminded of his mother Chhaya and becomes deeply pleased.
📋 3-Step Chhaya Daan Vidhi
Fill an iron bowl with mustard oil
Fill a clean iron or clay bowl with pure mustard oil — 100–200 ml. A dark-coloured bowl is even more auspicious.
💡 Bring the oil before sunrise — Saturday morning
See your reflection in the oil
Look at your face in the oil surface — this is your "Chhaya" (shadow). Say in your mind: "Shani Dev, I offer my shadow to you." Close your eyes, stay still for 3 minutes.
💡 This is the most important moment — seeing your shadow = surrendering yourself to Shani
Donate the bowl to someone in need
Place the oil-filled bowl at a Shani temple, or give it to a poor person. Include black sesame and urad dal.
💡 Don't look back after donating
