In the heat of the Vaishakha month, water charity is considered the highest merit. According to the Skanda Purana, donating one glass of cold water in Vaishakha equals donating 1000 cows. Water charity on Friday earns special blessings of Shukra (Venus).

Practical Setup for Jal Seva
Clay Pot or Surahi
Keep water in a clay vessel overnight — it will cool naturally by morning.
Location
Keep outside the main door or at the neighbourhood square.
Timing
From 8 AM to 2 PM — during peak summer heat.
Sign
Put a clear "Nishulk Jal / Free Water" sign.
Shukra Mantra
Say "Om Shukraya Namah" while placing the water — make a sankalpa.
