Friday Significance
Friday is Maa Lakshmi's day. Puja performed by women on this day brings family happiness, peace, health and financial prosperity. Worship during Pradosh Kaal (6โ7:30 PM) is most fruitful.
Six Main Friday Rituals
Lakshmi Seat (Asana)
Establish Maa Lakshmi's idol on a red/pink cloth in the Ishan corner (north-east). Specifically clean this place on Fridays and sprinkle rose water.
Tulsi Puja
Water the tulsi, light a lamp, and circumambulate 3 times. Offer kumkum and a red chunari on tulsi. Chant "Om Tulasyai Namah" 11 times.
Doorstep Rangoli
Make a lotus or swastika rangoli at the main entrance. Use pink, white and yellow colours. This invites Lakshmi into the home.
Pradosh Kaal Lamp
Light a ghee lamp at the main entrance and near the tulsi from 6โ7:30 PM (Pradosh Kaal). Lighting five lamps yields special results.
Lakshmi Stotra Recitation
Chant Sri Suktam, Lakshmi Chalisa or "Om Shrim Mahalakshmyai Namah" 108 times. Chant together with all family members.
Prasad and Charity
Offer kheer, peda or sweets as bhog. Distribute prasad to neighbours and those in need. Donating on Fridays pleases Lakshmi.
