🪔 Tuesday Puja Steps — 8 Steps

Purification & Attire

Bathe on Tuesday morning and wear red or orange clothes. In South Indian tradition, applying tilak (bhasma or vibhuti) is essential.

Panchamrit Abhishekam

Bathe Murugan's idol with milk, curd, ghee, honey, and sugar in sequence. Then rinse with pure water.

Vel Decoration

Dress the idol in red cloth. Decorate the Vel (spear) with red flowers — this is Murugan's primary weapon.

Flowers & Sandalwood

Offer 21 red roses or kaner flowers. Apply red sandalwood paste as tilak.

Mantra Japa

Chant "Om Saravanabhava" 108 times. Also chant "Om Shanmukhaya Namah" 21 times.

Subramanya Ashtakam

Recite Subramanya Ashtakam — the finest hymn of praise for Murugan.

Aarti & Bhog

Perform camphor aarti. Offer banana, payasam (kheer), or panjiri as bhog.

Distribute prasad to family. On Tuesdays, visiting a Murugan/Kartikeya temple is especially auspicious.
