ॐ प्रां प्रीं प्रौं सः शनैश्चराय नमः। Om Praam Preem Praum Sah Shanaishcharaya Namah।
Shani Maha Mantra (Nilanjana Shloka)
नीलाञ्जन समाभासं रविपुत्रं यमाग्रजम्। छाया मार्तण्ड सम्भूतं तं नमामि शनैश्चरम्॥ Nilaanjana Samaabhasam Raviputram Yamagrajam। Chhaayaa Maartanda Sambhootam Tam Namaami Shanaishcharam॥
Meaning: I bow to Shanaishchara, of dark blue hue like collyrium, son of the Sun, elder brother of Yama, born of Chhaya and Martanda.
Correct Method for 108 Japa
Mala Selection
Black Hakik (agate) or iron mala is best. Rudraksha mala is also acceptable.
Asana
Sit on a black or blue mat. Face east or west.
Beginning the Japa
First chant "Om Sham Shanaishcharaya Namah" 3 times as sankalpa. Then do 108 repetitions on the mala.
Meditation Mudra
Chant in Gyan Mudra (index finger touching thumb). Visualise Shani Dev's deep blue radiance in your mind.
After Japa
At the end, light a mustard oil lamp and offer pranaam to Shani Dev.
