Lalitha Tripurasundari (also called Rajarajeshvari, Sri Devi, or Sri Lalitha) is the supreme among the ten Mahavidyas (great wisdom goddesses). 'Tripurasundari' means 'most beautiful in all three worlds.' In the Sri Vidya tradition, she IS Parabrahman (the ultimate reality) — the universe is merely her play (lila). Her worship centers on the Sri Yantra and the Panchadashi mantra.

Sri Vidya is the tantric tradition that worships Lalitha Tripurasundari as the supreme reality. The Lalitha Sahasranamam is the primary liturgical text of this tradition. Sri Vidya is unusual in that it treats the goddess as Brahman (ultimate reality) rather than merely a deity — the universe itself is her body, consciousness is her nature, and liberation is union with her.
The 15-syllable root mantra of Sri Vidya: Ka-E-I-La-Hreem (Vagbhava kuta) / Ha-Sa-Ka-Ha-La-Hreem (Madhya kuta) / Sa-Ka-La-Hreem (Shakti kuta). This is the mantra at the heart of the Lalitha Sahasranamam. Each cluster (kuta) represents one of the three aspects of reality: speech/knowledge, middle (consciousness), and power. The mantra is considered so powerful that in classical texts it is only transmitted guru-to-disciple.
The Lalitha Sahasranamam occurs in the Brahmanda Purana, within a sub-section called the Lalitopakhyana (the story of Lalitha). Hayagriva (a form of Vishnu with a horse's head, lord of speech and wisdom) recited these names to Agastya Muni at his request on the banks of the Godavari river. This frame story is important: even Vishnu (in his Hayagriva form) acknowledges that Lalitha is the supreme reality.
The Sri Yantra (nine interlocking triangles — five pointing down, four pointing up) is the geometric form of Lalitha Tripurasundari. Each of the 43 triangles corresponds to a group of her names. Worshipping the Sri Yantra while reciting the Sahasranamam is considered the highest form of practice. The central point (bindu) represents Lalitha in her most essential, formless state.
