Lakshmi Puja Vidhi (Diwali)
Lakshmi-Ganesh Puja on Diwali night is the most significant financial and spiritual ritual in Hinduism. It is performed on Kartik Amavasya during the Pradosh Kaal in the Sthira Lagna muhurat. The merchant community begins new account books on this day.

- Lakshmi-Ganesh idol or photo
- Pedestal, red cloth, rangoli
- Lotus flower, roses
- Rice heap, turmeric knots
- Gold/silver coin
- Panchamrit
- Kalash, water, mango leaves, coconut
- Puffed rice sweets, mithai, fruits
- Ghee lamps, incense, camphor
- Account book, pen (for traders)
📋 Puja Procedure — Steps
Step 1: Cleansing & Rangoli
Bathe in the evening and wear new/clean clothes. Purify the puja area with Ganga jal. Draw rangoli and footprints at the entrance.
Step 2: Kalash Sthapana
Spread red cloth on the pedestal. Establish the Kalash with akshata, coin, betel-areca inside.
Step 3: Ganesh Puja First
Worship Ganesha first. Apply tilak, offer Durva and Modak.
Step 4: Lakshmi Pujan
Invoke Lakshmi with the Mahalakshmi mantra. Perform Panchamrit abhishek. Offer lotus, rice, turmeric knots. Place a gold/silver coin at Her feet.
Step 5: Chopda Pujan
Traders write "Shubh-Labh" on new account books, draw Swastik, and worship for Lakshmi-Ganesh blessings.
Step 6: Aarti & Diyas
Sing "Om Jai Lakshmi Mata" aarti. Light ghee lamps in every room, doorway, balcony and courtyard. Distribute sweets and prasad.
