Amber Fort
Jaipur, Rajasthan
A UNESCO World Heritage Site (as part of the Hill Forts of Rajasthan), Amber Fort blends Hindu and Mughal design elements across four courtyards. The Diwan-i-Aam (Hall of Public Audience), Diwan-i-Khas (Hall of Private Audience), and the Sukh Niwas with its water-channel cooling system are architectural highlights. The Sheesh Mahal's mirrored ceiling creates a starlit effect with a single candle. The Shila Devi Temple — dedicated to Goddess Kali brought from Bengal by Raja Man Singh — is worshipped with deep Shakta devotion. Elephant rides from the base are available. Evening sound-and-light shows narrate Rajput history.
