Pradosh Vrat Puja Vidhi

Pradosh Vrat occurs twice a month — on Shukla Trayodashi and Krishna Trayodashi. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva-Parvati. The Shivlinga is worshipped during Pradosh Kaal (2.5 hours after sunset). Soma Pradosh (Monday) is considered the most auspicious.

🪔 Puja Samagri (Items Required)

  • Shivlinga or Shiva photo
  • Bilva leaves
  • Milk, water, Gangajal
  • White sandalwood, vibhuti
  • White flowers
  • Incense, ghee lamp, camphor
  • Fruits, sweets
  • Panchamrit

📋 Puja Procedure — Steps

Step 1: उपवास एवं संकल्प

Bathe in the morning and take the vrat sankalp. Observe fruit-fast or eat once during the day.

Step 2: प्रदोष-काल पूजा

At sunset (Pradosh Kaal begins), sit before the Shivlinga. Perform abhishek with water, milk, Panchamrit. Offer Bilva leaves, white flowers, sandalwood, vibhuti.

Step 3: शिव स्तोत्र पाठ

Chant "Om Namah Shivaya" 108 times. Recite Shiva Panchakshara or Mahimnah Stotram. Listen to/read Pradosh Vrat Katha.

Step 4: आरती एवं प्रसाद

Perform Shiva-Parvati aarti. Distribute prasad.

Benefits of this Puja

Pradosh Vrat destroys sins, fulfils wishes, pacifies planetary doshas, removes marriage obstacles, grants progeny, and earns Shiva's grace. Soma Pradosh cures Moon doshas, Bhauma Pradosh frees from debt, Shani Pradosh pacifies Saturn doshas.

⚠️ Important Notes

• Puja must be during Pradosh Kaal (sunset + 2.5 hours). • Soma Pradosh (Monday) is best; Shani Pradosh is special for Saturn doshas. • Bilva leaves must be tridala (3 leaflets). • Listening to the Vrat Katha is essential.
