Milk Kheer

Time: 30 minMost beloved bhog of Lakshmi Ji

Ingredients

  • 1 litre full-fat milk
  • 3-4 tbsp rice
  • 3-4 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder
  • Saffron (optional)
  • Chopped cashews and almonds

Method

  1. 1.Boil milk and add rice
  2. 2.Cook on low heat stirring continuously
  3. 3.Add sugar, cardamom and saffron
  4. 4.Cook until thick
  5. 5.Cool and offer as bhog

Coconut Ladoo

Time: 20 minLakshmi bhog — white colour

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh coconut shavings
  • 1 cup sugar or mawa
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tsp cardamom

Method

  1. 1.Roast coconut shavings golden in ghee
  2. 2.Add sugar and cook briefly
  3. 3.Mix in cardamom
  4. 4.Shape into ladoos when slightly cool

Suji Halwa

Time: 15 minFast and udyapan bhog

Ingredients

  • 1 cup semolina (suji)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 tbsp ghee
  • 2.5 cups water
  • Cardamom, raisins, cashews

Method

  1. 1.Roast semolina golden in ghee
  2. 2.Add hot water gradually
  3. 3.Mix sugar and cardamom
  4. 4.Cook and garnish with dry fruits

Makhana Kheer

Time: 25 minEkadashi and Friday fast

Ingredients

  • 1 cup makhana (fried)
  • 1 litre milk
  • 2-3 tsp sugar
  • Cardamom and saffron
  • Pistachio slivers

Method

  1. 1.Thicken milk by boiling
  2. 2.Add fried makhana
  3. 3.Mix sugar, cardamom, saffron
  4. 4.Garnish with pistachio and offer as bhog

Bhog Offering Rules

  • Always offer bhog in a clean vessel
  • Wash hands before placing bhog
  • Place tulsi or flower on the bhog vessel
  • Do not disturb for 2-11 minutes after placing bhog
  • Distribute prasad among family after bhog
